We lock in a 2026 NBA Draft big board with four clear picks and a volatile fifth slot, breaking down tools, production, and translation to the league. We compare upside, floor, and risk while challenging injury narratives and fit assumptions.

• Why the board is four locks plus a wildcard
• Thomas Haugh’s motor vs immediate NBA impact
• Nate Ament’s skill without NBA burst or handle
• Kingston Flemings as efficient guard fit not pure two
• Jaden Quaintance’s defensive ceiling at eighteen
• Darius Acuff as sturdy five with playmaking
• Caleb Wilson’s two-way edge and strength path
• Cameron Boozer as safest floor-raising starter
• Darryn Peterson’s dog factor and shooting profile
• AJ Dybantsa’s size, mid-range craft, and scalability
• How spacing, roles, and health change projections
• Why team identity should drive the fifth pick

SPEAKER_00:

What's up everybody? It's your favorite show's favorite show, get a bucket. I'm your host, Trey, and as usual. Hope you're all having a wonderful, wonderful day. Now, if you listen to my last episode, I did say we were going to talk about the NBA All-Star Weekend, right? And the activities. We may have to push that back. Because I had a conversation with my cousin. And um, yeah, I gotta talk about the NBA draft prospects for the 2026 draft class. Yeah, we gotta talk about that. Um, because I think some things have been stated, and I don't really like how those things have been portrayed. So we got here, for example, we got we're gonna talk about my top five draft. Actually, let's do it like this. We're gonna do the top four and a possible because my I got my one through four kind of locked in, okay? My my my my my that that that yeah, that fifth one, it's uh we got a couple honorable mentions, all right? So let's go ahead and talk about the honorable mentions, shall we? Um, but remember, one through four for me is locked in, okay? So with that being said, let's go ahead and talk about here a couple players. So we got here Thomas Howe, okay? Thomas Howe. He's coming out of Florida, okay, ladies and gentlemen. Now he is the only junior that we have listed. Now, I believe this man, he has he has a decent motor, okay? He has a decent motor, but I I I like the athleticism. I just don't I don't have a as much stock in the upperclassmen um that I that you want to see. Like back in the day, you used to have a little bit higher stock in upperclassmen. He given about 20 a game. That's cool. I would love to see him dominate just a little bit more. Because again, he's a junior, right? Like when he played against my Blue Devils, he did well. So that's what's giving me some consideration for Buddy. But again, overall, I I I I I don't know if I would put him at that fifth pick. Because when I'm thinking that fifth pick, folks are trying to get a little bit more of immediate production in the NBA. And with him, I gotta wonder, will he be able to give me that immediate production? Um I I I got I I got question marks. But again, you could say that about some of these honorable mentions here as well, too. So if he goes number five, I hear it. Because again, he produces, he has good athleticism, he got respectable height. I think it can translate into NBA. We just gotta see it. That's it. But again, ladies and gentlemen, I I I I do I do like him a little bit, okay? So let's go ahead and talk about another honorable mention because this guy was a little higher at most people on most people's list coming into the season. And that's Nate Ahmed. Now, I actually saw Nate in high school, okay? He's playing for Tennessee right now. Um He's got good skill, he's got decent skill, especially for 6'10. I just don't think he has the athleticism, nor the handle, nor the the boogie-woogie in his game to be a real small forward. And he's gotta be a lot stronger. And I said this when he was in high school, he has to get either stronger or a tighter handle and a better jump shot. And I have not seen enough out of either of those things that I just stated. And that's gonna be a problem because again, you gotta compare him to the NBA talent. College, he's fine, he'll be cool. But in in the NBA, I um yeah, I I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't see it. I don't see it as much. He reminds me of a scal the BCR, if I'm keep if I'm if I'm being honest with you guys. So and and remember, Scal was number two in high school coming into Kentucky, didn't really pan out as well as you hoped. Okay? So I see a good game out of Nate. No disrespect, Nate. Hope you hope you listen in and hope you understand what I'm saying. But I need to see more out of you. More, which don't be to be clear, it seems like he has been trying to turn it up a little bit, but in some of these ranked games, I've seen him as a freshman, he did not produce, and I've seen other freshmen produce. So that just goes to say, hey, um, I have reservations. Remember, Nate's older than someone like a Cooper Flag. So, I mean, we've already seen younger players come into the game and be a little um be a little be a little bit better. Be a little bit better. I'm not gonna lie to you. So, yeah, sorry, Nate, no disrespect. If he gets number five, I understand it. I would have reservations around putting Nate number five. He gotta show me a little bit more. Now, another player that I gotta talk about is Kingston Flemings, okay? He reminds me out of he reminds me of Monte Ellis, okay? Monte Ellis was a really good player. If y'all remember the Warriors before Steph Curry, that was him. That was his team, damn near. And Monte was a solid player, alright? And Chris playing out of Houston, 6'4, I like him. I genuinely do. He has good efficiency, solid mechanics, shooting the ball wise, right? But he's quick and athletic. And I can imagine him kind of attacking the basket, but using his efficiency and his shooting mechanics to get a decent shot off. Now, he's strictly a point guard for me when it comes to the NBA. Because if he has to play the two guard, alright, now we gotta talk about him coming off the bench. So if he can be a starter on anybody's team, that would work out really nicely. But again, he can play off ball, especially with a lot of players trying to pass the ball. Like imagine him on a team like the Hulks, as an example, right? I think he could flourish there. Because you got defenders, you got playmakers around there, too. So he's a playmaker himself. But if you got someone like, let's say, Dyson Daniels, who's 6'6, playing that shooting guard position, why can't they rotate in terms of offense? Kingston can play the two guard on offense, but on defensive side, I would prefer him being the one. So again, Kingston as my as my fifth pick, could he be that NBA starter for me? Yeah, I think he could actually. He could also strengthen up a little bit more. So as he becomes more of a grown man, I expect him to showcase his talents a little bit more. So in like three seasons from now, maybe even four or five, I we might see a different Kingston Flemings. But does he have that potential of Amate Ellis? Yes, and that does entice me. I'm not gonna lie to you all. So I would consider Kingston for that fifth spot as of right now, because again, he's been hooping pretty well. He got the efficiency going shooting about 38-39% from three at 6-4 with good athleticism. Can't scoff at that. Also, he's getting about six assists a game. I ain't too mad at that. But game's not all about efficiency. Sometimes you do need brute strength mixed with athleticism, which is why we're going to Jaden Quaintance, okay? Because Jaden, we gotta remember this. Jaden came into college last year at 17 years old and held his own. Alright, I was fairly impressed with the boy. Now he's an 18-year-old sophomore. He is injured, so that is something to note. But for me, I look at him thinking maybe he could be like ceiling-wise, Ben Wallace, okay? And then floor-wise, I can see him being maybe like a Rob Williams. Because again, 6'9, stocky, good athleticism, but he's young. He's 18. He's 18, ladies and gentlemen. Like, y'all gotta remember that, okay? So with that potential, I'm telling you right now, you have to consider him at the fifth spot. If you want a solid defender who can probably get up in terms of the the blocking ability, rim protection, but also improve his offense over time, I think Jaden's your person. I could see him genuinely guarding the fours and fives right now. And if he improves his feet his foot speed, I would definitely consider him being able to guard the threes. So if if if if if if you want to chance it, Jaden is somebody to take a chance on. And I do think it could pan out. If he's if I'm wrong, I apologize, ladies and gentlemen. But I genuinely wholeheartedly expect Jaden to pan out extremely well. Now, another player that we could actually bring up into the mix, right, is Darius A. Cuff Jr. Now, Darius is the player that is sturdy. He's a freshman, he's 6'4, he's a dominant scoring guard, and I'm telling you right now, I I I can't, I, I, I, I can't, I I would probably go Darius number five right now, if I'm being honest with y'all. He gets about six assists, two turnovers. He's shooting pretty well. I like him. He got good athleticism, he's a sturdy guard, too. I know we talked about Kingston Flemings in a similar manner. Darius is actually more sturdy, he's sturdier, and that's something you gotta take consideration for. You gotta take into consideration. So for me, I would look at Darius Acuff being a wonderful player to choose from. Um, if he's not, alright, my bad. But again, I think he is going to pan out well. Now, we done talked about all my honorable mentions, right? We've talked about all of them. So let's go ahead and go on to my to my top four. That's a lot. Okay, because remember, like I said, it was top four and a possible. So we talked about all the possibles. And there could be more over time. Remember, we don't know who's gonna draft what in terms of teams because the lottery has not taken place. So let's focus on these top four picks. Now, my fourth one, no bias, because y'all know I'm a Blue Devils fan. We gotta go Caleb Wilson. Uh, he reminds me of Marvin Williams. More offensive, though. I've heard Kevin Garnett, I've heard Kevin Durant. Y'all really love them Kevins, don't y'all? I think this is Marvin's room, though. Like, I know, you know what I'm saying? Like, I think Caleb really will pan out pretty decently. He's just more offensive-minded than Marvin Williams, but he has more upside to him, too. That's what I'm really mean. He has more offensive upside. Because Caleb has good defensive motor. Alright. I just like the fact that he has a chip on his shoulder and he's been proving it. Like, he went up against Darren Peterson, and guess what? He was mad that the man did not pass him the ball during his McDonald's all-American game. I I like stuff like that. What I'm curious about is what will his chip be when he gets to the NBA? Yes, everybody has a chip on their shoulder when they say, oh, this player got drafted over me. Oh, that's a chip. Alright, cool. But what other chip will there be? Because he's he's the best player on his team. So he is showcasing his best talent. And if you're giving it your best and they and people have picked other players ahead of you, why? Are you like what is gonna be the next thing that's that what's gonna be the next chip for you? I'm curious about that. But defensively, in the NBA, I could see him being a really decent problem. Offensively, I could see him being quite interesting. I'm not gonna lie to y'all. It's just a matter of what how much does he need to bulk up in order to make sure that he can sustain his level of play in the NBA. Because once he's physically mature enough, he could be interesting. And I get why you guys say Kevin Garnett and Kevin Durant, I don't see that level of fluidity as the Kevin Durant, and I don't see that level of aggression as Kevin Garnett. But maybe somewhere in the middle with both, I could see I see I see glimpses of them, okay? I genuinely do. But again, no bias. I would go with Caleb Wilson, number four personally. Um I I I I I do like him. I do, I genuinely do. So that's why I had to make sure this was that there was no bias between of Caleb Wilson. I want to make sure y'all know that. Also, there's no bias because I have him underneath Cameron Boozer. That's why Cameron Boozer for me is number three, ladies and gentlemen. Now, y'all would have thought I might have picked him as number one. To be clear, all of these players as my pop as my top four could go number one. I just have Cameron Boozer as number three because of his overall. He's the safest pick. He is. He plays under the basket, about 6'9, 6'10, very sturdy, very stocky. Alright, he got grown man strength already. Scoring pretty well, leading it, leading our team, I want to say, in points, rebounds, assists, and maybe even steals. Like that could be a real thing for us. And Cam Boozer, I think he reminds me of his daddy, Carlos Boozer. Just more mobile. Like maybe in a because you got to blame errors, right? Like maybe in a different era, maybe Carlos would have been shooting that three-ball a little bit. But Cam is shooting it about a 37-38% clip. That's not bad at all, especially given the fact that he's stocky the way he is. He's as strong as the way he is. So he can go take you down to the block, or he can go space up and hit you with the mid-range, or go space you up and hit you with the three-pointer. That's pretty impressive. The only thing he's missing from his game is he doesn't play above the rim. Here's the thing, though. It's not like Nikola Jokic plays above the rim either. And he does pretty well, don't he? So I'm just saying, ladies and gentlemen, Cameron Boozer, he got he's the safest pick for me out of all these players. I'm telling y'all that right now. Um if you don't believe so, then that's cool. But I'm telling you, he is easily the safest pick out of all these players. And he's been producing arguably the best. He might be the best college player in the game today. Um if if if you disagree, that's cool. But I I I I I I don't think you've been watching basketball then. So again, Cameron Boozer, number three, I think that's safe to say. Now, you may be wondering who goes number two then. Um I've heard some notions about either my two players going one or two. Let's go Darren Peterson, real quick. That's my second pick. Now, I told you about Cameron Boozer, I told you about Caleb Wilson. Both of them are taller than Darren, alright? But keep in mind, Darren does have more of a dog factor for me than these two. So that kind of gives him the edge. Also, I think he did actually beat both of these players in high school. Like, I know for a fact, can't I know for a fact Darren beat Cameron and AJ. I watched those games. I gotta double check to see if he beat Caleb, but I'm pretty sure he did, though. I'm pretty sure he did. Even if he didn't, he's got more of a dog factor. About 6'5, 6'6, shooting about 43% from the three, that's tough. Like, that is pretty, that's pretty good. Like, that's really good. And again, he's a doll. Like, you're not gonna find that too much, too much. I'm not gonna lie to y'all. And he can play on both sides of the ball. Like, hey, bro, I I'd be curious why you wouldn't pick him number one. Well, part of the reason why is because of some of the potential that other players have, or one other person has for me, but also um his injury history. I know some people are going at his injury history. Let me let me tell you this right now: playing with a hamstring injury, I don't I don't think you can really blame him on that. Like not playing with the flu. I know we talked about Jordan's flu game, and that's an iconic moment, right? We are human, ladies and gentlemen. Like, if you're going to be sick, I do understand you not being able to play in a basketball game. Let's be realistic here. Yes, you would want to see your players tough it out. But you know what? If you can't play, you can't play. End of day. And a hamstring injury is a valid reason why you should not play. So is the flu. So these are the reasons why we're saying Darren Peterson shouldn't go number one. But let's keep in mind when he is playing, he's been dominant. When he played against AJ DeBonsa, who is my number one pick, by the way, Darren dropped 18 points in the first half. AJ had maybe 17, 19 points for the whole game. Darren didn't play the whole second half. So, and mind you, Kansas' team won. So, Darren has at least shown up. Yes, I would have loved to see him play against play against my Blue Devils. I would have loved to have seen that. End of day. He was hurt. So, what has he done in his body of work? Well, he's produced when he's playing. And yes, we would love to see him play more. But when we do see him playing, he's decisive. He's dominant. Like when when he went up against AJ, he got his 18 points. A lot of them was on AJ. And AJ no scoff. Like AJ AJ's nothing to scoff at on the defensive end. So again, Darren Peterson is a dog. And let's say he continues to do this throughout the rest of the season, meaning play and dominate. I'm finding it very tough to put him behind AJ for too much longer. I'm gonna be honest, y'all. Because with AJ, like for starters, I've heard comparisons, NBA comparisons, of Darren Peterson through the likes of Kobe Bryant. I don't agree with that. And honestly, Darren says the same thing. And he also said too that Kobe's one of his favorite, he that's one of his goats. So that's another reason why I do like the boy, too. He got good taste. But I can't give him the Kobe comparison, especially for the reasons why people are giving it to him. So again, Darren Peterson, he's got a he's a doll that recognizes his talent. He recognizes a lot of things. He seems like a mature individual. And the only thing you can really knock him on has been his injury, his injuries thus far. His not playing as much, which yes, the best ability is availability. But if he becomes available, then what you gonna say? Well, I know what I'm gonna say. I still might have to go AJ DeBonta because guess what? The boy reminds me of T-Mac with the motor. And if y'all have heard me before, I'm gonna say it again. I thought T Mac, T Mac was probably the only player wing-wise that scared me when I was looking at Kobe growing up. Because I thought, oh man, he might actually be better than Kobe. Now Kobe wanted it more. He had a more he had a stronger work ethic, and he played better on both ends of the ball. Kobe was elite. I see AJ DeBanta as that same level of eliteness. I do. Like he's he he he has a better mid-range game than anybody in the in in the NBA in I'm sorry, in college basketball. And as a three-point shooter, he's at about 35-36% clip right now, which let's be clear, it's not like he's a known three-point shooter. So that's kind of respectable. I can see it going up as well, too. But that mid E range, oh, that's him. And he's about 6'9. Remember, Darren about 6'5, 6'6. AJ 6'9, so when we're talking about dominance, AJ and Darren are there. Both sides of the ball. I don't know if I can say which one's the better two-way elite player. I can tell you which one's the more versatile one, though, AJ, because I can guard one through fours with AJ, sometimes fives, although I don't want to do fives at all with AJ. With Darren, I gotta go one through three. One through three. You know what I'm saying? Like, could he guard someone 6'9? Yes. But AJ at 6'9 with good length, I think I'd rather trust him guarding. Also, too, let's let's do the injury thing, right? Well, if you're worried that Darren's injuries are caused because of the amount of games played as an example, right? Which I don't think that's the case, but if you're injured for for 30-40 games, well, the NBA plays double that. They play 82 games. So you you you might be you might be wondering about that. I don't have injury issues or worries in regards to AJ. And also, there's a difference in college than there is in the NBA in terms of spacing on the floor. Like AJ is usually having two to three players guard him at one time. He gets double triple teamed a lot. We can say the same thing about Darren too when he's playing. But remember, I saw Darren having to be guarded by AJ. And it's not like he was getting doubled. AJ would get doubled. So when we're talking about dominance, I I might lean AJ, biasedly maybe, but I might lean AJ just because of the athleticism, the height, and the scoring and defensive ability. Like there, he checks all the checkboxes I need. And then from a playmaking standpoint, which is what I might knock Darren more so, because Darren's only given about two assists a game. AJ giving about four rounding up. So you mean tell me the combo guard is averaging half the assist as the small forward? That could be due to scheme. That could be due to the fact that it looked like Darren look unstoppable a lot, but so does AJ. So I would love to see Darren, I would love to see his assist go up a little bit more before I can throw him ahead of AJ. But AJ for me is number one, and again, I can't wait for him to get to the league and have much more spacing. Because he already got the one-on-one game on lock. And he's showcasing that he can pass the ball too. So again, ladies and gentlemen, my top fours, like I stated, those are locks. In order, AJ DeBanza, Darren Peterson, Cameron Boozer, and Caleb Wilson. If those change over time, I'll gladly address it. That fifth spot, that's the one that's really wide open right now. And I'm curious who's gonna go there. And over time, these players are gonna have to show me who's supposed to be there. I've heard some other names as well, too. Other players have not impressed me as much. I've seen some interesting prospects. But the five that I listed off probably have more safety. They're a little safer. Although I guess Jaden might not be as safe. But I take that chance with Jaden personally, if I have a top five pick, more specifically, number five. But he got potential to be up in that mix too now. So again, the potentials, the honorable mentions, those could shuffle around. But my top four picks, the the top fours, they locked in. But ladies and gentlemen, I'm curious who are y'all picks? Do you have the exact same order that I have? Are y'all's names the same as mine's? Do y'all have any other honorable mentions that you think should be top five worthy? I would love to hear those. So please comment below, let me know. But ladies and gentlemen, that does conclude the end of the episode. So thank you all for listening. I hope you all continue to follow. And please make sure to like, subscribe, comment, tell anyone who's in. Anyone about the show. My name is Trey. I'm the host of Get a Bucket. And if any athletes that I've mentioned hear this, I ain't trying to be disrespectful. I'm just giving my honest opinion. I would tell y'all the same thing in front of y'all's face. Y'all tough. Y'all are good players. But I gotta compare y'all amongst yourselves and the NBA. And if you ever want to battle me on some of these, please come on to the show. It's always open. But, ladies and gentlemen, like I said, that does conclude the end of the episode. So I hope you all having a good one and take care.
