The Memphis Grizzlies face a critical decision point with Ja Morant after repeated troubling incidents, including his latest gun gesture controversy despite previous suspensions. Despite his top-10 talent potential, Morant's immaturity and poor judgment might warrant a trade while his value remains high.

• Morant's pattern of problematic behavior includes previous incidents with a minor and multiple gun-related issues
• Memphis Grizzlies were performing reasonably well without Morant during his absences
• The organization recently fired their head coach despite being fifth in the standings
• Potential coaching candidates include Sam Cassell, Charles Lee, and Jaron Collins
• Young players like GG Jackson, Santi Aldama, and even Jaren Jackson Jr. need proper development
• Trading Morant could yield significant returns to build around a new coach and young core

What's up everybody? It's your favorite show's favorite show. Get a Bucket. I'm your host, trayn, as usual. I hope you're all having a wonderful, wonderful day Today.

Speaker 1:

I got to start off a little spicy, so here's my thing. We got to talk about Memphis Grizzlies and they wove. But before we talk about that, please make sure you hit that like and subscribe button, make sure you comment and also tell anybody who's anybody about the show. I'm trying to get the ratings up a little bit. You know just a little bit, but have y'all ever.

Speaker 1:

Before I even start about Memphis, I got to give a shout out. I got a little niece who keep crying all the time and I'm starting to feel like this personal Right. This is really truly personal. No matter what I do, she just always cries. Truly personal. It don't matter what I do, she just always cries.

Speaker 1:

And I'm good with kids, ladies and gentlemen. I used to volunteer with kids and it got promoted to actually being an employee at a nursery when I was growing up. So I have a background with working with kids and doing pretty well at it, and this little kids might be listening. Trey, calm down, like this little girl keep crying, bro. I'm like, oh, I'm so excited when she finally matures and we can actually have a positive working relationship. But until then, I'm gonna wait till she bout a couple years older now, because, yeah, it's been the last three times, it's been a little tricky.

Speaker 1:

Well, ladies and gentlemen, that's kind of how I feel about memphis grizzlies, because when I'm looking at john moran, yeah, all I all I'm seeing is Memphis fans crying, executives crying hell, even his teammates should be crying, because Buddy really reminds me my little niece. That's right, it gets a little tricky early on. Maybe, maybe John will sit up there and mature. Problem is, as an organization, do you want him, him? Do you want to wait and see if he matures? Because that is a gamble too, and you know, basketball is a gamble, it's business still. But I'm at the point now I'm like the boy is too foolish for his own good.

Speaker 1:

Extremely talented, and it makes it tough for me to make this statement that I'm about to say, but I do do believe the Memphis Grizzlies should trade John Moran or, at minimum, at minimum, look to trade John Moran and see what you can get for Buddy, because, keep in mind too, with his play style and his high stock based on talent, you could get a huge haul for him and you already have a good team in place, because the Memphis Grizzlies were at least decent without John Moran when he was injured. Keep in mind too, he's had injury issues over his career as well too. At this point in time, like I said, the boy's stupid. I think if I'm Memphis, I'm looking to trade Buddy because let's give context he definitely has been in trouble before. He had issue with a 17-year-old where I think he got called for r issue with a 17-year-old where he I think he got called for roughing up a 17-year-old. Somebody in his camp roughed up a 17-year-old, but I believe it was him. Although the 17-year-old could have been in the wrong right, still, you're considered a grown man. You cannot physically assault a 17-year-old by any means. Then we also had other suspensions that involved guns, right, cool. After all of that, you would think Buddy wouldn't even hint at a gun in public, especially right, like you would think so. That would be the smart thing to do, the mature thing to do, the aware thing to do, but instead he keeps doing gun hand signals at folk. Let's even give you credit that buddy, healed in this scenario, was the first one to initiate the gun, the gun hand signs right, because of your history you can't do that, but you said you know what I have to do this, though. That's lack of discipline. And keep in mind John Moran, as a talent, could be top 10 as a talent. Yeah, ignorance is unfortunate, though, in this situation.

Speaker 1:

So again, I would be looking to trade John Morant, ladies and gentlemen, even though he's extremely talented. Keep in mind, the Memphis Grizzlies just fired their head coach and at the time, the Memphis Grizzlies were number five in the standings. They fired the head coach before Ja got into this whole situation yet again with another gun hand sign, and he's already been hemmed up for having a gun around him before. At this point in time, I got to be honest, ladies and gentlemen. I like how Memphis is heading, because you could do a couple of things. Like right now, you fired your coach and your star player could be suspended before playoffs. Like right before playoffs. You're not winning this season. Even with John Moran, memphis Grizzlies were not winning. So why not test out your interim head coach? See what you got. But if you don't get what you need out of Tumas Lissalo that's their interim head coach I would look at other head coach or other coaches like a Sam Cassell, like a Charles Lee, like a Sam Cassell, like a Charles Lee.

Speaker 1:

Jaron Collins, like some of these guys, actually have a decent background and could fit well with the Grizzlies. Let's talk about Jaron real fast Again. Assistant head coach with the Golden State Warriors, he's garnered attention for his strategic acumen and player development. He's interviewed for the Grizzlies position in the past. That could be a promising candidate. How about Charles Lee? He's 40, so relatively young, gained recognition as an assistant coach with the Bucs during their 2021 championship run, by the way. That's good to note. And then his defensive strategies and player development are pretty well noted as well, too.

Speaker 1:

And again, we're talking about the Grizzlies, who could use some player development. They have young players on their team. And then we all know Sam Cassell. He's 55, so he's a little bit older, but still that's a decent age and he has a well-decorated NBA playing career. Also, he's not too bad as a coach. He served as the head coach for the Clippers and he's a pretty decent leader. And keep in mind, too, he also has good player development as well on his resume and he would fit well with the Grizzlies.

Speaker 1:

Sam might be my leading candidate for head coach for the Memphis Grizzlies, if I'm being honest with you, ladies and gentlemen. So again, if we have Sam Cassell, I might stomach the idea of trading John Morant, just because maybe he can get John Morant to wise up and mature a little bit. Because again this Memphis Grizzlies team could rival that of the OKC Thunder, could be competing against the Houston Rockets if everything goes well for the future, like this Grizzlies team is interesting. Rockets, if everything goes well for the future. This Grizzlies team is interesting.

Speaker 1:

But again a lot of things ride on the head coach, upcoming Also their player development, because they have players like Gigi Jackson, santi Aldama, who solid offensively but could use some work defensively. Gigi, he's tough, just as a raw player offensively. So again they have players, even Jaron Jackson Jr, a little bit raw offensively still for me. So again they have players that could use a little cultivating. The right head coach could go a long way. And then also maybe bringing in another veteran to help out, preferably I would say a star, but at the same time someone in the starting realm. If you could do that that'd be nice. But that's what I'm looking at Because if not, if we can't get a good head coach a job is going to have to leave Because again, he's going to be a detriment to himself At this point in time. That's what I believe based on what I've seen.

Speaker 1:

But I mean, ladies and gentlemen, that does conclude the end of the episode. So I mean I'm curious your thoughts on Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies head coach search. Also, I'm curious your thoughts on my little niece. What y'all think I should do with her? How can I get her to stop crying, bro? I swear every time. It don't matter if I'm trying to feed her the bottle, it don't care whether I'm just trying to hold her real quick, rock her to sleep. Nothing works, dog. And that's how I feel about John Murray. It don't matter what we do, nothing works. So is that a fair comparison as well too? I'm curious your thoughts. But definitely please like, subscribe, comment, tell anyone who's anyone about the show. My name is Trey. I'm the host of Get a Bucket. Hope you all are having a good one, take care.
