What's up everybody. It's your favorite show's favorite show. Get a Bucket. I'm your host, trey, and as usual, I hope you're all having a wonderful, wonderful day. Y'all see, I got the WNBA sweatshirt on again. You know what I'm saying. That's my favorite sweatshirt the whole time. But I also got my Duke at home because my boys and my girls actually have been moving.
Speaker 1:But, ladies and gentlemen, we're going to talk about March Madness today. And what are we going to talk about within March Madness? Well, for starters, give a nice little quick overall summary, right, but then also talk about the number one seeds, the biggest upsets, the top sweet 16 matchups at least mine, for me, like mine, I think they're good and then also the pro players that got booted out. We're going to talk about them a little bit. And finally, to close it off, I had a nice little top sleeper listing, so let's, we'll talk about them real quick, as well as my duke wish list road to the championship. You know you gotta talk about that fingers crossed, right? But, ladies and gentlemen, let's go ahead and get it started off with the overall number one seed. The matter of fact, let me pull my screen up real quick, right, because y'all got to see this. So you know what? Let's make this a little bigger. I'm not going to be. I'm going to let y'all watch this screen so y'all see the number one seed. Right, they did win. Kudos to y'all Auburn, duke, florida, houston, all y'all did y'all thing. All right, I'm going to leave this on the screen for Duke. Okay, I'm saying them's my boys, right? Here's the thing Duke actually had the largest point differential between all four number one seeds Florida had nine, auburn had 11. And Houston had 11.5. Duke had 33.5. That means both opponents that each team played. That's their point differential. And y'all heard Duke's in comparison to the other. That's astonishing. And I can't sit up here and say that, hey, we played trash because Baylor's actually a good team. They were Can't hold y'all. So again, that might be something to note. That might be something to note. Ladies and gentlemen, we also got to talk about here the biggest upsets. Okay, because keep in mind, just keep in mind you have and matter of fact, let me go off the full screen when I say this you have a 1 in 19.2 quintillion chance of getting a perfect bracket. That's wild to hear. That's much better than winning the lottery, being struck by lightning. All that good stuff, right, like it's kind of tough to get a perfect bracket, okay, matter of fact, I think, as of the 21st OK, matter of fact, I think, as of the 21st First weekend, basically, there were only 11 perfect brackets left. So it's kind of tough to gauge these, these games, sometimes. Well, my biggest upsets were two, five seeds losing to some 12 seeds. So we did have Memphis, right, they did lose. And then we had Clemson, and they lost as well. Now here's the thing, though, because Clemson let's talk about Clemson, actually Clemson losing to McNeese All right, that's by two points, we can take that. We can take that. Same with Memphis, all right, you losing to Colorado State by eight points, we can take that. Like that's okay, that's tolerable, although you would like to see somebody win, right, that's still tolerable. At least you didn't get your tail beat. So again, ladies and gentlemen, those were the biggest upsets that we had thus far. That's not too too terrible for me at all.
Speaker 1:Now what I'm looking at here for the next round. We're looking at some top Sweet 16 matchups. So let's see here, am I feeling deep? No, I'm not feeling nothing like that Florida versus Maryland. I'm not going to lie to you guys, ladies and gentlemen, this one's going to be pretty interesting because I personally believe in Derrick Queen and I want to see Buddy flourish against Florida, and not to mention, if Duke can actually do their job and get to the championship. We could potentially play either Maryland, who used to be an ACC rivalry matchup, or Florida, who is a pretty big name. So, again, I would love to see this matchup going in the Sweet 16. This is a final four worthy matchup and I honestly think whoever wins that comes out of that side of the bracket we also gotta look at. Let's see who we got.
Speaker 1:Oh, kentucky versus tennessee. Now this one here is gonna be nice, because what I'm thinking is, ladies and gentlemen, one from a fan duel perspective. I might end up getting a little bit more bread if Kentucky wins. Think about it Calipari just left and Kentucky's back into the fold. I think Kentucky versus Duke. Again, if we do our job, that could be a wonderful matchup.
Speaker 1:Kentucky versus Tennessee. Tennessee might be the favorite opponent. Keep in mind, they're the two seed. Some people might think they went in and out. Tennessee's been playing really well too. They're a top-ten team. This is Kentucky's time to showcase. I got a favorite this one as well too, but this one's going to be pretty interesting, I think.
Speaker 1:Then we also got to look at am I missing one? Oh, here we go. I was about to say am I missing one? I hear you guys about say arkansas versus texas tech. Now, I said earlier, whoever wins maryland versus florida might come out of this bracket. Arkansas is kind of interesting to me. I'm not gonna lie to y'all, this one's gonna be a a battle do like boogie flan. You also got calipari, who I just mentioned. Him leaving k Kentucky, going to Arkansas. Imagine if Arkansas versus Kentucky was a championship matchup. That would actually have some heat to it. I ain't going to lie to you, that does sound interesting. So again, arkansas versus Texas Tech, because Texas Tech has also been a top 10 team this year. Arkansas, they have NBA talent. This is going to be a matchup to watch. I'm not going to lie to you guys, ladies and gentlemen, you got to watch this one.
Speaker 1:And then finally I know I had to do this proper Duke versus Arizona. Arizona's a top program, duke's a top program. We've met before in championship rounds Like these. Two programs have been playing well this year. So we have to watch this, not just because I got the hat on, not just because I'm a fan you know what I'm saying not just because we could end up going for this championship ring here, it's because these programs have been playing well and again, top programs like these pitted against one another Sweet 16. That is pretty sweet, I'm not going to lie to you all, but I mean, ladies and gentlemen, that really concludes the let's see. Here we got the biggest upsets, the number one seeds and my top sweet 16 matchups Like these were. Those were all great.
Speaker 1:So let's go ahead and move on down to the pro players that are out, and let's start it off here with Liam McNeely, because I do think Liam McNeely played well. He played for UConn. I say played because I do expect him to go to the NBA draft, but first game, eh, didn't do too well. He did go to the second round. First game didn't do too well, but he did have a bounce back game, that second game. So I do think from a pro perspective, he, I, he cool, he showed the bounce back ability for me, like when you have a bad game and you can bounce back, you good champ. So again, liam McNeely, I expect him to leave and go to the draft, and you have to play well in March, madnessness, because this is when the pressure's on you now.
Speaker 1:Dj Edgecombe, out of Baylor, lost in the second round. Played well for me, athleticism showed up. I wish he could have dropped like a 25 ball against us. I'm not gonna lie to you. That would have helped his draft stock out, but he played extremely well. Plus, nurkid Omer did foul out, so that did help out my boys. And that didn't really bode well for Vijay Edgeco. So stuff like that does make me question his ceiling overall, but from a talent perspective he is NBA ready. Played well. You got my seal of approval, champ. So again, vijay Eshko, good job. And also shout out Jeremy Roach, former Dookie, who's on the Baylor as well. Tough, you went out that way, champ, but we appreciate you for your services.
Speaker 1:Moving on down, trey Johnson. Ladies and gentlemen, I talked about Trey Johnson nine months ago actually, and he plays on Texas. He lost in that very first round, like that first out round, right, and that was tough. But again he did play well, though he did play well. So I will say Trey Johnson is ready for the NBA. Again, I'm looking at him as a shooter. If he could increase his defense, that would be stellar. But his best niche will be shooting and then eventually shooting off the ball, like only I'm sorry with the ball, like scoring the ball. I can see that like. Again, I told you about trey murphy, that's good, that could be a solid comparison ceiling, maybe clay, but again, that's that defensive that I'm looking forward to. But he's nba ready.
Speaker 1:I I will say that Asa Newell, buddy, cool for me. I'm not going to lie to y'all, ladies and gentlemen. He played well. Lost in the first round but played well, and because of that I got to say he's NBA ready. Good enough athlete, 6'11" mobile.
Speaker 1:I had some gripes about him. He proved me wrong. I thought he was ready. Again, I might have to revisit where I'm going to put Asa on the NBA draft board. I'm not going to lie to you all. He did his thing. He did his thing. Shout out, buddy, shout out, let's move on down.
Speaker 1:He played for Georgia, by the way. I just want to say that let's move on down to Kasparis, yacoujonas, yacoujonas. I'm sorry, oh my gosh, that was terrible. But he lost in the second round. Okay, Now keep in mind Illinois. They played BYU. It was a little tricky.
Speaker 1:Illinois did struggle early on, and I don't know if he's going to be an elite scorer, but from a vision perspective I do think, if Yaka Jonas does have players around him that can score, could be pretty decent. So I I do understand the josh giddy comparisons. I genuinely do. I do think he has more capabilities to shoot than josh giddy. So yaka jonas is someone that I would be interested in, but at the same time, I don't know. It could be it could behoove him to return for one more season. But I get it too. If you're gonna leave strike while the iron's hot, I understand that. But I got a question mark around him. I'm not gonna lie to y'all.
Speaker 1:He cool though he cool, jeremiah fears out of oklahoma team lost in the first round. I like him. I think he can go to the nba right now. Keep in mind too, he did reclassify. I do think he's go to the NBA right now. Keep in mind too, he did reclassify. I do think he's about 18, 19, though, so that don't matter. But so much Buddy Cahoot. So if I'm a team, I'm looking at him. I'm thinking Monte Ellis, without the athleticism, but it's not like he's the slouch athletic lead too, though. So I mean, again, I like Jeremiah Fears, and if I'm thinking from a marketing perspective, the name Fears, that could sell tickets. So again, I do like Jeremiah Fears. I look forward to seeing him in the NBA. Simple to explain.
Speaker 1:And then, finally, ladies and gentlemen, ian Jackson out of UNC Team lost in the first four. Well, first round, not first four, first round. Knock a lot of you guys. I didn't like the way buddy played. I thought he played poor.
Speaker 1:Um, I had gripes about him going into the nba draft. I did see most people's draft boards. I see those numbers right. I'm not the biggest fan. I get you. He's six four. Athletic seems too wild. Could use a little bit of. Could use an extra season. Knock a lot of you.
Speaker 1:Staying one more year could help you out draft stock, I get. I think it would behoove you to stay. But again, that's just me. No shade, I get it. I got the hat on right. I understand. Still, I believe the man should leave or the man shouldn't leave. But that's just me though, ladies and gentlemen. Maybe that's just me, but that's all the pro players I'm talking about. At least the lottery picks that people were talking about, right, those are the players that are out of March Madness, unfortunately. Oh, it's okay, it's okay.
Speaker 1:But what we got though, ladies and gentlemen, before, before we close out, is just a little bit more to talk about, because I did want to talk about my sleepers that I talked about on the last episode. So if you don't believe me, it's okay, I got proof and then, as well as my dukes wish list to the well, to the championship, let's monitor that and see how it's going. So I'll talk about these real quick before we close up shop. But my sleeper teams, I told you all, louisville, vanderbilt, baylor and Texas All lost Side note, because I did have one more team remaining, and that is Arkansas, and I told y'all they are part of my final four, or sweet 16, focal points.
Speaker 1:Those were one of the four matches I told y'all to watch, because I do expect Arkansas to give us a good show and shout out to Boogie Flan because, again, he's a pro player and I love the fact that he's playing well too. So again, ladies and gentlemen, you got to watch Arkansas. If not for the entertainment, for the simple fact that they're my last sleeper team. It'd be cool if they go a little far. I'm like, yes, I called something at least let's go, let's go. But that's enough about the sleeper teams, because again, I only got one and I already talked about them. So let's focus on Duke's road wishlist, right, and, matter of fact, I'll even try to bring it up real quick Duke's final four. So, as y'all can see right here, we did beat Mount St Mary Cool.
Speaker 1:After that, we beat Baylor, like I said, like I wanted, because again they had BJ Eshkone, who was the NBA draft pick, had Jeremy Roach, who's a former Dookie, right, and then you also got Norkin O'Meara, who was part of Miami when they made that run to the championship round, their dad gonna sell, right. So they and that's also again the ACC tie. So we did our thing. So next we get to see which is the team that I wanted to see, because we also got to get our payback from 2011 when Derrick Williams, or that 2011-2012 season when they ended up beating us in the Sweet 16, actually, I think, if I'm not mistaken, that's when we had Kyrie Irving. I remember we lost Kyrie to that toe injury, so he only played like 11 games. So we need our get back personally and again, like I said too, it's a program, it's top programs like this. We have to get our get back. We have to win this matchup For history's sake. We have to. Then, after this, if we do our job, fingers crossed.
Speaker 1:I did want either Wisconsin or BYU and, as you can see, byu beat Wisconsin. So we got to look at BYU. So hopefully again BYU and Duke can do their job and win. That'd be nice. That'd be nice right. Then we got to ask ourselves as Duke fans, who would we want to see? Because we can look at Houston and that's the team that I personally want to go up against. The reason why I say Houston granted Kentucky, I can say because of fan dual purposes. I did put money on them right after the season ended last year. But Houston I would like to get our give back because we did beat them last year, but they did. Cryer, I think, got injured, if I'm not mistaken, and that did turn the game a little bit and I didn't like the way how we ended up winning that one. So I personally, as a fan true fan would like to see that matchup again. So I hope all parties do their jobs and give us a quality show. But keep in mind we're still getting our job done and moving past Houston.
Speaker 1:Now I did say for the championship round, ladies and gentlemen, this would be interesting because we could have played UNC for a fourth time. Can't happen, could have played Kansas. What would that have symbolized? Right, because Kansas fell off the map. We also played Kansas early on, so that would have been cool. They would have had the redemption game. It would have been a nice storyline. Can't happen if Kansas lost. Uconn. Can't happen because they lost in the second round.
Speaker 1:So again, who are we talking about here? Well, right now we got Auburn, michigan State and Maryland. So I would love to see one of those teams make it impossible. And if I'm going to be honest, maybe in order Michigan State, maryland and then Auburn. Reason why I like Tom Izzo's squads I do, I'm a fan of a Tom Izzo coach team.
Speaker 1:And then, from Maryland's standpoint, the Duke-Maryland rivalry. I miss it. So to get it back in the championship game, oh man, I'm not going to. Got to have that. And then Auburn. We've seen them before. They've been the number one team. We actually were the number one seed, or at least ranked team, going into March Madness, but yet Auburn got the number one overall seed. I believe they also beat us too. So again, ladies and gentlemen, we could be an interesting game, but those are my rankings and right now, again, we are going according to plan, at least somewhat. So I do like the fact that Duke's doing well, and again, march Madness overall, ladies and gentlemen, has been a phenomenal one, and that's just the men's side too, because we got the women's side to talk about as well, but not on this episode, though It'd be on the next one, but I definitely want you all to well.
Speaker 1:One comment, and let me know how your bracket's going. Are you that one? In contrillion, I owe 19.2 contrillion. If so, hey, you are him or her. I'm telling you that right now, but I want to know. So please like, subscribe, comment, tell anyone who's anyone about the show. My name is Trey. I'm the host of Get.
