What's up everybody. It's your favorite show's favorite show Get a Bucket. I'm your host, trey, and as usual, I hope you're all having a wonderful, wonderful day. Today we are going to talk about some of my top players in the WNBA's upcoming draft. We're talking about early expectations, early predictions, right. So I'm going to say top five, right, but I'm going to really include six, maybe even seven, okay, just because a couple of these girls are hoopers. So we got some honorable mentions, but it was tough to say a legitimate top five. Y'all might need to help me out, so we're going to start off with the honorable mentions. Well, mention after. After this, I legitimately was torn who should go in the top five? Uh, but georgia amore, she is out of kentucky.
Speaker 1:Ladies and gentlemen, solid five, six guard I'm not gonna give. I'm not gonna go too too much into the stats right now. I'm just all I want to say is this she is a quick, electrifying guard with a really good ratchet on. I'm talking about she can shoot the hell out of the basketball and a respectable playmaker. Size could be the long-term issue, but when I do look at her, I see some semblance of an Arike Agumbawale. I'm not saying she's going to be the star, the scorer that Arike is. But from a shooting perspective, if she utilizes her quickness, improves her playmaking just a little bit and if she maintains that three-point percentage. When she was early on at Virginia Tech and she shot 39% 40% from three on five attempts that's what Arike was doing in college when she shot five attempts 38%. So I think the shooting from a three-point percentage could help her out and her quickness also allows her to blow by defenders. And then she has a good playmaking ability. She'll be all right. But Georgia Moore, I do expect her to be a little bit outside of the top five, depending on how the teams shake out. But she is a good player and I expect her to be talked about in the WNBA.
Speaker 1:But we are now moving past the honorable mentions, ladies and gentlemen, and we are going to go on to the top. Well, six, but should be five. Y'all help me out in figuring out who need to get the boot, because it's tough, but we're going to start it off with Kiki Arieffin, all right, so we can say this is number six or five. There was a time for five, I don't know. Y'all help me out, but I'm torn in terms of who's her? I guess hoop comparison, because when I saw her initially I'm thinking maybe a LaMarcus Aldridge, right. But then when I look at her as well, I'm thinking, dang, I get some Tina Charles vibes too. I even get Elizabeth Williams vibes.
Speaker 1:And when I look at her Kiki Meany she's 6'3", gave 18 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, one assist, one steal, one block, I mean one assist. Oh my God, one steal and two blocks and two turnovers. Now, 50% shooting from the field, 40% from three and 82% from the free throw line is not bad. I deem her as a potential star, quality player, right. Only thing is she did just recently get here. She was most improved when she was over at Stanford, but, to be fair, she's been hooping ever since she got to USC. So I mean that recency thing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you can worry about her confidence going into the WNBA because when she started out in college maybe she might dip back and then have to work her way back up. Well, guess what? Every rookie typically has two. So I'm okay with her growth, her expectation. I'm seeing her, three seasons from now, really getting her footing more than likely. But that's a lot of talent. I just listed off LaMarcus Aldridge, tina Charles, elizabeth Williams all those are good players in the NBA and WNBA. So Kiki Arieffin again, she gets potential star quality. So that's why I'm torn in terms of should I put her even this low on the top five? But y'all let me know. But let's move on down the list and and maybe I can help help me out just a little bit but number five or a tied five, I guess, depending on how you want to list it we got anisa morrow.
Speaker 1:Now she gives an an aliaah Edwards type vibe. Okay, but here's the thing too. I also read a report where someone says something about she's similar to Angel Reese. That was their comparison. I had to think about that for a second, and I mean when Anissa was in college, right, like she was well one she gives off starter to all-star quality vibes. For me, she's an elite rebounder and stealer and let's think about this too. Now In college she actually out-dueled Aaliyah Edwards multiple times in 2022 and 2023. If y'all remember, in the unrivaled league granted, one-on-one is different than five-on-five, but Aaliyah Edwards, after her rookie year, did beat Breanna Stewart Again Breanna Stewart who I've called the Kevin Durant of the WNBA. So if I'm seeing her outdueling Aaliyah Edwards. There's a world where Anissa Morrow could actually out-duel Aaliyah Edwards in the WNBA too.
Speaker 1:At some point in time you got to factor in the professionalism, right, like Aaliyah got an advantage, but still we know the potential of Anissa Morrow is high. Her stats all the stats aren't everything, but her stats, at least rebound-wise and scoring-wise, are that of Angel Reese's. And then defensively they just flip-flop on steals and blocks. And I think when you talk about Angel Reese people say, oh well, she can't score too well outside of the paint and really in the paint she's not that good. Okay, cool. Well, anissa actually is pretty decent from the field and she shoots better from the three than Angel Reese did. So maybe you might want to lean on Anissa Morrow. So if you like Angel Reese and Aaliyah Edwards, you might want to tune into Anissa Morrow because she can get a little bucket and snag some boards her dad going to sell.
Speaker 1:But I ain't going to harp on Anissa too much. Let's go ahead and move on down to the next person that I got to talk about, cause this one's pretty cool. Um, this person is pretty special. I ain't gonna lie to y'all. She could turn out pretty nicely and at number four for me.
Speaker 1:Uh, we got Dominique Malanga. She reminds me of a of a little bit of Lisa Leslie. I said, yeah, I said it. I said I got a question mark behind it now, but I do say a little bit, lisa Leslie Follow with me now because I am a Sparks fan and she is the reason why I became a Sparks fan actually. So Lisa was about 6'5", right Athletic, run like a gazelle. What else? What more can we ask for for a top-quality athlete, right? Oh, by the way, first woman to dunk. So again, she has good athleticism.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that dominique is 6-6 and at least during the first five games over the lbwl she gave 15 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks and two turnovers, and that's on 62 from the field, 11 from the field, 11% from the three and then 65% from the free throw. So, yeah, we got a few things to clean up, like the free throw. I do want to see uptick a little bit more. Three point that could go up a little bit more too as well, but it's not needed either. She got a good mid-range game. Hey, it's over. So I see potential star quality here. I genuinely do.
Speaker 1:And again, when I say this elite athleticism and height combo. Like ladies and gentlemen, I saw her do a drop step real quick and go up with it and dunk the ball in practice, so casually, and when I say it was extremely quick, like that's what we're talking about. If we can get that in the WNBA, oh my God, how many people are not going to want to pay to see that? That's ridiculous. That's not been done in the WNBA and we don't see what Caitlin Clark did with the shooting. So if this girl is able to drop, step and dunk, she's whoo. So again, my only question mark is the current opponent she had that she's going up against. Is that fair? Is that a fair assessment? That's my only thing, because if it is, oh wow, we got something to look forward to. Ladies and gentlemen. But again, potential star quality, my angle heartbone, dominique, too much, because again we got more ladies to talk about.
Speaker 1:So number three for me Sonia Citrone. All right Now. This one was actually very interesting because, come out of Notre Dame, she ironically reminded me of these two particular players Maddie Seagreece and Kayla McBride. I got it. I got a question mark behind Kayla because I don't know if she quite the bucket getter that Kayla is. I don't know, but then again, when I think about, I think about it too, though it could be because of her teammates, but let's talk about this though. So Sonia is a 6-1 forward who given 14.6 rebounds, three assists, two steals, one blocks on two turnovers and averaging 49 from the field, 38 from the three and 90 from the free throw line.
Speaker 1:I'm thinking starter to fringe, fringe all-star quality player for me in the WNBA. I think she's a good shooter and overall player, but then at the same time, because of that and she does give good effort on defense I can't hold y'all. That does make me question should she be higher than a starter or fringe all-star quality player? Maybe I need to bump her up to all-star, because, again, when I'm looking at Maddie series all right, maddie's actually cool fringe all-star caliber player for me actually, depending on the year. Kayla McBride we know she a bucket, that's WL NBA caliber player. Right, there could have been, I was gonna say finals MVP, but you know she run with the FISA, so I don't know, but like, if the FISA is not on that squad, april, she number two, just saying like that's a, that's a solid player too, and I think about it.
Speaker 1:So for Sonia Citrone. I got a question when the hell she going to ultimately rank? My only real knock for her is her supporting cast, because and this could, this could work for her too because you could think, ok, well, she's not playing with these girls, her stats are going to go up, but she's also able to play with these girls, so you can utilize that Right, and she's able to. She's able to lead the team if need be Cool, but it would be nice to see how she does by herself. That would be helpful, but we can't get that. But again, I see a quality player in Sonia Citrone there, but we can't get that. But again, I see a quality player in Sonia Citrone.
Speaker 1:If we're talking about gambling on players reaching their expectations, I expect Sonia to do well. I genuinely do. That's why I got it this high. But again, I ain't going to harp too too much on Sonia. Let's go ahead and move up on the list.
Speaker 1:I know y'all curious that who's number two? I got Olivia Miles at number two. That's right. Notre Dame is actually hooping. They might have to win the NCAA title, ladies and gentlemen, because, yeah, they got two top three picks on a squad, for me at least. But Olivia miles I've actually been saying for the longest time. She kind of gives me a little CP three vibes, not Candace Parker, chris, paul.
Speaker 1:I made a post about her a couple of years ago when she was like a high school senior and she and she made Paul. I made a post about her a couple years ago when she was like a high school senior and she made her selection to go to Notre Dame and you know she actually liked the post and I appreciated that right. You know, just a very humble person and it seems like she's that way on the court too. Again, she's not trying to be a star, she's just hooping and at 5'10", giving you 14.6 rebounds, six assists, one steal, .3 blocks and 2.8 turnovers on 48-32-73 splits. All right, here's the
Speaker 1:thing. The free throws, I would like to see up a little bit more in the 80s, that'd be nice. The three-point I would like to see up as well. But let's not be honest too, ladies and gentlemen. Or let me be honest too, ladies and gentlemen, or let me be honest too, ladies and gentlemen. She can shoot better than this. So I, I these are her senior year stats. I get it cool, but I see star quality player and this person I already told y'all she reminds me of chris
Speaker 1:paul. Decision making I love scoring ability, she cool. Efficiency, oh, I'm sorry, the efficient, the efficiency. I cannot talk. And then you know, again, I do respect the elite playmaking I love and again, I say a good score. Only question mark I got is injuries, because she has had a couple of major injuries over the years, so that's something you got to concern about. But right now she's looking
Speaker 1:good. So if you think she's worth that gamble which I do think she is you may want to take her at number two, you may want to take her at number two and she could go number one. Keep it a buck with you, depending on how some teams view her, or at least how some teams view the next person. But y'all may be wondering who that next person is. So let's go ahead and talk about it. Shall we? Next person number one, paige Beckers, about it? Shall we? Next person number one, paige Beckers? This is the reason why I have a gripe with the WNBA right now, because as a Sparks fan, I felt like we should have got Paige Beckers with the number one pick and not have settled for Kelsey Plum. I said it because Paige is 23,. Kelsey's 28. You got to think longevity-wise, kelsey's 28. You got to think
Speaker 1:longevity-wise. Ladies and gentlemen, paige is going to be here for a long time and she's about to hoop off gate. I see star quality in the making and at 5'11" at UConn right now she's giving you 19 points, four rebounds, five assists, two steals, one block and 1.3 turnovers On 53% from the field, 42% from the three and 85% from the free throw. Like, we got good scoring, good decision making, good defense, good efficiency. I got it right that time. Only thing you got to talk about is the injuries. Yeah, she's had some bad ones over the years. Can't hold it yet. That is troubling. Again, it's the same thing with Olivia Miles. But if you are okay on gambling on Paige Beckers and I definitely would be Y'all heard me when I said
Speaker 1:it. I stand by it 10 toes down. Paige is about to be a bucket in this league and again, she's not a liability on defense. She's a complete player. For me, it's just a matter of making sure she's healthy and giving her some good pieces to work with. That's it. Like y'all saw when she battled Kaitlyn Clark in March Madness. Well, we got to remember that UConn's team was actually very depleted. They ran with six players the entire tournament. So by the time they got to Iowa, it was a close game. Players the entire tournament. So by the time they got to Iowa, it was a close game. And it was only because of an Aaliyah Edwards illegal screen, while we didn't get to see Paige Beckers potentially shoot the final shot to maybe make the game winning
Speaker 1:shot. She's been considered the best player in the Kaitlyn Clark class. That includes Cameron Brink, angel Reese, all these players. She's been the top dog for a while. It's just the injury that brought her
Speaker 1:down. So again, ladies and gentlemen, paige Beckers, my number one. And it's hard to put her up here too, because there are a lot of good players, like I've talked about. So I need y'all to help me out discern who should be the top five, because I can't. I can't determine who needs to get kicked out. I can't hold you, even though I got them listed off one through six. I can't defend until you say this is my order, this is just. This is just how I put them in and this is how I wrote them and looked them up on research wise. That was it, but I ain't gonna lie to y'all, so can y'all please help me out? I'd greatly appreciate it. But also I would also greatly appreciate, if y'all like, subscribe comment to anyone who's anyone about the show. My name is Trey. I'm the host to get a bucket of you all having a good one, take care.
