Speaker 1:

What's up everybody. It's your favorite show's favorite show. Get a Bucket. I'm your host, trayn, as usual. I hope you're all having a wonderful, wonderful day. Now today I'm gonna do a nice little audition for you guys. I think my Joker impression is pretty daggone, spot on. I'm just curious what y'all think. Right, here it goes.

Speaker 2:

You want to know how I got these scars. My father was a drinker, the fiend and one night he went off. Crazier than usual. Mommy grabs the kitchen knife to defend herself. She doesn't like that, not one bit. So me watching he takes the knife to her the last thing. While he does it, by the way, he turns to me with the knife and says why so serious?

Speaker 1:

Now I'm playing Let me stop you.

Speaker 1:

Look, I'm here to talk about the WNBA players and who I deem are untouchable. But if y'all did think that was pretty good, you know, make sure to like, subscribe, comment, tell anyone who's anyone about the show and about my, my wonderful skills, right, but not so. I did talk about the NBA players and who I deem are untouchable before, so if you haven't listened to that one, please go take a listen. It was pretty entertaining for me. But this one is very similar, right? What do I deem as a safe player? That's somebody who I believe might stay on the team for about three seasons, keep in mind.

Speaker 1:

The average WNBA career is about five years and I did sort of misspeak on the last episode. I said the average NBA career is about three to four years, give or take. It is technically 4.8, so rounding up to five, just wanted to make sure I clarified that. But when we saw Luka get traded, right, I think that kind of opens the players' eyes. And now it makes me wonder well, are players in the WNBA safe, right? Like we saw a couple players leave. Like we know, brittany Griner left Hell. We've seen Brittany or Brianna Stewart leave before, correct? So again, who is safe? And I have about 12 players in the WNBA. Well, 11, and then 12 is the draft class.

Speaker 1:

But, we have about 11 players who I deem are safe, right, they should be on the team for the next three seasons. So, with that being said, here we go. We have Asia Wilson, asia Wilson, nafisa Collier, sabrina Ionescu, kelsey Plum, ezzie Magmigore, kaitlyn Clark, aaliyah Boston, which I kind of have an asterisk there, only because if there's ever any turmoil between her and CeCe or the team, I do believe Aaliyah Boston would be the first one to lead on that squad, especially given the CeCe effect, the Kaitlyn Clark effect. Y'all know how that goes. We also have, speaking of turmoil, angel Reese right, at least with Caitlin Clark. And then we also have Angel Reese's teammate, camila Cardoza. Then we have Aaliyah Edwards and then also Brianna Stewart, who ironically played Aaliyah Edwards in the Unrivaled League and lost.

Speaker 1:

Now here's the thing I have an asterisk by Breanna Stewart. I do expect her to be safe and again, same with Aaliyah Boston as well. But there is a chance that they could leave Breanna Stewart maybe like three seasons from now, especially if the Lynx don't get like a finals appearance. I could see maybe some question marks about her wanting to leave, or question marks, something like that. It's happening. But again, I deem her to be safe and, of course, the draft, the wma draft picks from 2025. I'm assuming the top picks are going to be safe, more than likely. But also, hey, who knows, we could see some teams, we can see some players move. Let's see what happens.

Speaker 1:

But the questionable players I have, ladies and gentlemen, are as follows uh, diana sarasi long story short. To this day in time, we have not heard her say she officially retires. So that's the only reason why I have a question mark. Outside of that, she would be safe. I would not see the Mercury trading her. Arike Agunbowale I do have her as potentially leaving as early as next season. Reason why again, they're drafting Paige Beckers, more than likely with the number one pick. Dallas Wings are, and, yes, you could play both of them simultaneously, or you could maybe trade Arike to a team and get some pieces back to build with Paige Beckers as future. So again, arike could be as early as next season. But again, they could also try to pair her and see how that goes for like two seasons, maybe three, and maybe the Dallas Wings make some shape who knows, but I'm I.

Speaker 1:

I do lean. Arike leave it. Uh, ryan Howard, I do expect to stay on this, on on the dream, like I do see her as a safe player. However, if she leaves, it would be because she's frustrated. She wants a new environment. That would be the that would be the reason. So, expect a trade request from Ryan Howard. If anything, I don't think the dream necessarily trade her. Granted, she's their best player and youngest asset right now. From that standpoint, you also got Cameron Brink on my Sparks root, root, right.

Speaker 1:

Here's the thing three seasons from now, what happens if the team decides to, I guess, move on? Or maybe she has health issues? Right, she did experience health issues this past season, her rookie year. What if that happens? Again, I can see us maybe looking forward to moving on in a new direction, but outside of something like that, I do expect Cameron Brink to be a safe player. Again, small asterisk, but it is what it is. Same with Rekia Jackson, maybe not same. What if Rekia, again three seasons from now, does not improve from what she is right now? I can see us wanting to leave because, again, we do have some expectations of trying to win a championship at some point in time and she's a good player. We do expect her to evolve, along with all our players, and if we're not getting that, I do expect the spark to potentially look to move on from her. Ariel Atkins right recently traded to the sky, I think three seasons from now, maybe Rekia, she could leave the sky and go to a different squad, but again, I think they're trying to get the number three pick worth out of her Right. So at least three seasons for the number three pick, I would assume, because again recently traded. Help build with Angel Reese and Camila Cardoza. Think that would be helpful.

Speaker 1:

De'erica Hamby again a play on my sparks. Here's the thing. I could see her leaving, potentially in two seasons, maybe for a youth movement or what happens if we're getting a quality trade package. Keep in mind too, de'erica is a good bucket getter and someone could want her on their squad. So I could see De'Erica possibly moving within two seasons. But that's not a knock on De'Erica. I actually look forward to De'Erica possibly winning a championship on a team, whether that's my Sparks or somebody else's, I really do love De'Erica Hamby as a player.

Speaker 1:

Nneka Agumake this is another player that I love, even though I just butchered her name originally, right, I have her jersey, all that stuff. Here's the thing she was formerly on my Sparks, now on the Storm. I can see her leaving the Storm in two seasons, potentially even next season. But if the team loses early too much, I'm sure she's going to want to potentially win a championship. Look for Nneka to leave and go elsewhere. Her talents should not be wasted On the storm. I thought last year they kind of wasted them a little bit, lost to a decent squad in the Aces. It is what it is, but I could see Nneka potentially leaving within that three seasons. So again, not off talent, off her. She's not safe.

Speaker 1:

Now Brittany Griner she just recently joined the Atlanta Dream, right, I do see her potentially leaving within three seasons, given the team loses early too much. Right, Because again she wants to win. She's also getting up there in age in terms of basketball years. Limited time don't want to waste time. You've been spoiled playing with DT. Time's ticking, right. So again, if they can't show any sort of headway, any sort of real traction, any promise that they can actually win a championship, well, that's easier said than done.

Speaker 1:

I can see Brittany Griner potentially leaving. It's not a guarantee. She's not unsafe. I just think she could leave and that makes her an unsafe player based on my criteria. Again, she got to play on the team past that three-season mark, or at least make it to that three-season or past three-season mark. Alicia Gray this is another play on the dream and my question is this because I could see her leaving in three seasons? Because, based on the acquisition of Brittany Griner, you do potentially move down to the third option. Bg could move to the third option as well, but Alicia Gray, as a defender and shooter, which that's what she is, I mean that could be pretty scary too. So again, if she handles that well, maybe she stays. But I know the confidence that she has in herself makes her think she's not a third option, but I do believe she's a team player. So that's the reason why I think she is ultimately safe. But I could see her three seasons from now saying, hey, maybe I want to try something different, maybe the team may want to try something different. So those are my reasons why I might put a little asterisk around her, but it's nothing to really scoff at, it's nothing, it's business, it's nothing personal.

Speaker 1:

Kelsey Mitchell is another person who you know, again talking about on the fever right. They did just get a lot of players this offseason. They did a just get a lot of players this offseason. They did a lot of players right. Here's my thing With Kelsey, you could get pushed out because there's a lot of talent going around. And keep in mind too what happens if the fever don't win you could get blamed. A lot of people were starting to put blame towards you, missing those passes which you did miss the passes. But Kaitlyn Clark did a lot more in terms of the messing up with some of those passes towards you. So if they're doing that already, imagine what they're going to do. If y'all can't win, you can be blamed first before Kaitlyn, and I can see the pushing out occurring. Also, especially, again, let's keep in mind too she's older than the core, at least the younger players, aaliyah and Kaitlin. So when we're talking about getting pushed out, hey, maybe three seasons from now, we're talking about Kelsey at lower 30s. It's a little bit different In basketball years, that's a little bit different.

Speaker 1:

So again, ladies and gentlemen, I'd see Kelsey Mitchell three seasons from now, maybe joining a different team. Nothing personal, just business. Same with Benadze Laney Three seasons from now, we could see her going to another team. Keep in mind, other teams could value her extremely highly because Benadze is a bucket. She could definitely get a bucket, but she's also a lockdown defender and I got to give her flowers because I wasn't giving her enough flowers initially, but she proved me wrong. So again with Benadze, what happens if the Liberty one don't win enough? She'll definitely be one of the people that they blame first, and then other teams could potentially view her extremely high and want to snack her from the Liberty, which I can't fault them. So I could see Benadryl Lane leaving in maybe that third season, at least three seasons from now.

Speaker 1:

Again, safe play as far as like a talent, but as far as situations go, I can see Benadryl potentially leaving Shakira Austin on the Washington Mystics All right. So this one's tricky because this one she could be leaving as early as next season. For me, it all depends on how the Washington Mystics draft this upcoming draft here, because they could go two bigs, and now that makes you think, ok, well, what are we going to do with Aaliyah Edwards? Where does Shakira Austin fit? That's going to be a little interesting, and the bigs that they're going to potentially get look quite astonishing. Um, so that makes me question if the mystics have shakira austin in their, in their future. Initially I would have said yes. Now I got some question marks, and again, it could be as early as next season, just because the team's direction in which they want to go now unless they want to do a plethora of bigs on the squad cool, but I don't know if that's what they're going to want to do. So, again, shakira Austin could be available as early as next season, and that's something I'm going to be paying attention to. I actually do like Shakira. I really truly do Not. The dancer the hooper the dancer cool too, though.

Speaker 1:

And finally, jackie Young. I can see Jackie Young potentially leaving the Aces as early as two seasons from now, which is kind of weird to say. But if the Aces don't win, keep in mind they just lost Kelsey Plum, right? I think a lot of people believe that they would have kept Kelsey over Chelsea and Jackie, and that just got proven wrong. I do believe they would keep Chelsea Gray before they keep Jackie Young, and because of that I do believe Jackie Young would be on the hot seat first. They just acquired Jewel Lloyd.

Speaker 1:

Normally you say first man in last man out, first woman in last woman out. Oh, last woman in first man out. Oh, last woman out, last woman in first woman out. I'm sorry, oh my gosh, I can't. That was terrible. I hear that. But I do believe Jewel Lloyd is viewed a little higher in terms of WNBA status. So because of that, I expect Jewel Lloyd to have a chip on her shoulder.

Speaker 1:

Play well. You expect the same thing from Jackie too, but because of Jackie's role, I think Jackie might be the first person that's offloaded. So, as such, if there is any overall, if there is any shifting, any shaking in the Aces right organization, I would expect Jackie Young in the next two seasons. But I would hope she's safe because, again, jackie Young is a good player. I have said it before. She is all WNBA caliber. This Aces team is scary when she's playing at her best. So again, it is nothing. It is nothing personal, it's purely business. But, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, those are all the women that I have who I deem are safe and who I have question marks around, and if I didn't list anybody I might have genuinely missed her and I apologize or I genuinely believe that they can be shuffled around as early as next season.

Speaker 1:

So again, ladies and gentlemen, y'all heard the names. I would greatly appreciate if y'all let me know your thoughts. So please like, subscribe, comment, tell anyone who's anyone. One about the WNBA. Two let's go ahead and throw in the Unrivaled League while we at it. And three about my show. My name is Trey. I'm the host of Get a Bucket. Hope you all are having a good one. Take care.
