Speaker 1:

what's up everybody? It's your favorite show's favorite show get a bucket. I'm your host train, as usual. Hope you're all having a wonderful, wonderful day. Now, of course it's called get a bucket.

Speaker 1:

So we got to talk a little hoops, right, and I gotta say the wmba game. You got to appreciate the growth, right like shout out to the unrivaled League. We get to watch Mo Hoops and I appreciate it so much Because having the season end in September and we don't see it kick back off until officially May kind of hurts. Kind of hurts, so like, for example, when we see Angel Reese produce the first 20-20 game. That means she got 20-plus points, 20-plus rebounds. I appreciate that Now, granted, it's three on three, so it's a little bit easier in terms of five on five because you have less spacing and three on three, but still that's the first that we've seen in this league and the league just started up, right. So we're getting more notoriety, we're getting more accomplishments, we're getting more expectations for the upcoming WNBA season based on this unrivaled league. So again, I'm happy that the growth is continuing. But I did see something recently where apparently Michael Carter Williams he was the well, he was drafted by the 76ers way back in the day, right, like maybe 2013 off the top of my head, but he wants to be part of an expansion process specifically for Boston and it got me thinking, well, what would it look like? And so I also saw a couple other teams that might be looking to get a WNBA squad. They dag on self and again, I'm liking the growth of the WNBA Like we've already seen the Golden State Valkyries enter the mix. We're seeing the Toronto Tempos come to fruition soon, like the growth is going.

Speaker 1:

So I started thinking about some names for these other teams, right. So I'm curious what you all are thinking about the names I kind of came up with, and I did kind of base these somewhat off the off the off the off. The brother organizations, right, so follow me. So the Boston Clovers that's the name I came up with because obviously we got the Boston Celtics Right. I think the Clovers would actually be pretty cool. Because obviously we got the Boston Celtics right. I think the Clovers would actually be pretty cool. You got here the Philadelphia Pioneers because you got the Philadelphia 76ers, like I do think the Pioneers might be interesting.

Speaker 1:

The Cleveland and here I need y'all help on this one, right, because the Cavaliers is the name of the brother's, but the Cleveland Queens or the Cleveland Defenders. Let me know what y'all think about that, because I kind of like Defenders low key, but Queens does kind of have a name to it. I kind of like the sound of that. But we're going to move on down to Detroit, because they actually did have a squad back in the day called the Detroit Shock. So let's spin the block and revive the Shock, please. I don't think that'd be shocking if Detroit's team is called Shock.

Speaker 1:

Now Kansas City I heard their name right Now we do have the Chiefs, right. Maybe we can make a little connection, even though that's football, even though that's football. But we don't really have a Kansas City team in the NBA currently. So I'm thinking maybe, possibly we can do Kansas City Chieftains. You can nickname it Tans for short. I don't know, I'm not really the biggest fan on that one, but y'all let me know if y'all got one for Kansas City, because that one I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Now, houston this one was kind of like my Boston one. We're going to name them the Rockettes. That's not too far off from Rockets, right, because we do have a Houston Rockets squad and I think that would be nice to have. You could say the Comets, you could, but I would like the Rockets in this situation. That's just me personally. That's just me personally. But if you say comments too, I'm cool with that.

Speaker 1:

Also, because I did say spend the block right Now for Tennessee. Hear me out. The closest team we got to Tennessee is Memphis. So I did say the Tennessee Grizzlies. If y'all think that's too redundant, I hear you. But let me know what y'all think too in terms of a better name, because the Tennessee Grizzlies did actually grow on me, as I have listed. But at least Boston, like Boston Clovers, that one does seem to. Actually it might have some traction, because again, mcw is talking about wanting to be part of the expansion process and with the Celtics actually winning a championship becoming relevant, I don't see why they would not. That's additional money.

Speaker 1:

So again, I'd be looking forward to seeing some of these things possibly come up and it'd be cool if actually some of these names got taken, like I'm not going to take the Clovers and the Rockettes right, the Shock's already been there. Cool If the Philadelphia Pioneers come out hey bro, y'all heard it here first. Or like the Cleveland Defenders, y'all heard it here first. You know what I'm saying. Tennessee Grizzlies, that's me. I ain't going to hold you, I'm him. But I think what's going to help this out is seeing the teams like the Valkyries, like the Tempos. Those are going to be good testers, okay.

Speaker 1:

And now we get to look at well, how is this going to affect the revenue from a playoff standpoint? Right, like, are we going to? Are these additional teams meaning we're going to have an East versus West, similarly to how we have the NBA's playoff format? Personally, I like to see one through 16. That's just me, but we could switch to East versus West now. Time will tell. Also, how.

Speaker 1:

About how many games would be added to the schedule too? Like, could we see 60 additional games for a WNBA season? Keep in mind, we're probably playing three games a week, maybe sometimes four, but averaging out to like three and some change. Right, there's four weeks in a month, so we're talking about 12 games in a month. 20 games is going to be a little tough I ain't going to hold. So that's going to be a little different than two months. Now we're talking about timing. How long, when do we actually get all these players to play all these games? That's going to be an interesting thing. So can we schedule all that? A lot of stuff to unpack, a lot of stuff to unveil, and I'm looking forward to tuning in and looking to see how these new teams are going to impact the wmba because, like I said, the game has been evolving and I love how it's continuing to grow.

Speaker 1:

So, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I wonder what you all think about the growth of the WNBA. Has it been good thus far? Do you expect it to continue? And then, if we do have these teams coming into the mix, how does that impact the WNBA? Is it going to dilute us? Is it going to dilute the talent, like some people think the NBA had when at least JJ Redick and company said that, right? So will it dilute it for you or will it help the WNBA and actually make it better? I'm curious, your thoughts, but you definitely heard mine, so please like, subscribe, comment, tell anyone who's anyone. One about the Unrivaled League, two about the WNBA and three about my show.
